Panthers Defeat Notre Dame in Thrilling Five-Set Match

Pittsburgh, PA -

The University of Pittsburgh volleyball team defeated the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in a thrilling five-set match to win the ACC Championship on Saturday night. The Panthers won the match by scores of 25-23, 25-22, 22-25, 21-25, and 15-12.

Pitt was led by senior outside hitter Kayla Lund, who had 22 kills and 15 digs. Junior middle blocker Serena Gray added 16 kills and 10 blocks, while senior setter Rachel Fairbanks had 50 assists.

The Panthers trailed 2-1 in the match after dropping the third and fourth sets. However, they rallied back to win the fifth set and secure the championship.

This is the Panthers' first ACC Championship since 2019. It is also the program's first NCAA Tournament berth since 2018.

The Panthers will now await their NCAA Tournament seeding, which will be announced on Sunday night.
