Manchester United Football Club has confirmed that Guillermo Varela has joined Eintracht Frankfurt on a season-long loan. The Uruguayan defender, who has been with the Red Devils since 2014, is hoping to get more regular playing time in the Bundesliga.

Varela has made 22 appearances for Manchester United, but he has struggled to break into the first team on a regular basis. The 25-year-old is now hoping to impress at Frankfurt and earn a permanent move to the German club.

“I am very happy to be here,” Varela said. “Eintracht Frankfurt is a big club with a great history. I am looking forward to playing in the Bundesliga and helping the team to achieve its goals.”

Varela is the second player to leave Manchester United on loan this summer, following the departure of Andreas Pereira to Lazio. The Red Devils are expected to make further signings before the transfer window closes on August 9.
